Govt taking serious steps for increasing productivity of cotton crop: Bosan

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Food., Agriculture and Livestock Sikandar Hayat Khan has said that the cotton crop is the mainstay of the national economy and the government is taking serious steps to grow more cotton. He stated this while presiding over a meeting of 75th session of the central cotton committee held on Thursday at Karachi. The minister said that the government was taking steps by giving subsidy of Rs250 per bag for phosphatic and potash fertilizers, enhancing credit to farmers, besides, this agriculture departments of federal and provincial were also using electronic media to aware growers for quick and timely transfer of cotton production and use protection technologies. The intervention of price mechanism for cotton seed is also available to save farmers from financial loss, he said.
