PESHAWAR - President Mamnoon Hussain on Saturday reiterated his stance that the government was fully committed to stamp out menace of terrorism from Pakistan with effective legal and security measures.

Talking to journalists, the president expressed his deep grief and sorrow over Peshawar tragedy and said that such issues generally gave a nation, new aspirations and spirits to tackle all ills and evils with firm determination of eliminating them. “The whole nation is ready to remove this menace forever and to target its root-causes,” he said. “As a result of such incident, the whole nation gets united and the few among them with feelings that these elements could be persuaded, have also changed their opinion about them,” he said.

He said that government was working upon a number of pieces of legislation to provide security to the witnesses in such cases, besides the mechanism for expeditious proceedings and swift disposal of cases. He said that the whole world had also recognised that Pakistan was greatly affected with terrorism. He underscored the importance of the operation Zarb-e-Azb by saying that it was launched to end the scourge of terrorism from Pakistan and assured the nation that all efforts would be made to purge Pakistan of terrorism and terrorists.

The Afghan president had also expressed his strong commitment for close cooperation with Pakistan over the issue of terrorism, he said. He said that no Muslim could indulge in such inhuman activities by blasting in sacred places, adding that the strayed elements on wrong path also lose guidance of the Almighty Allah as their end was imminent. Appreciating the courage of injured students, he advised them to pursue highest ideals of education and morality by constant struggle and sincerity as they would have to perform miracles for Pakistan and Islam in future.
