Immidiate execution of terrorists on death row: Nisar
01 January, 2015
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday ordered execution of those terrorists on death row whose mercy pleas have been rejected.
Nisar chaired the executive board meeting of NACTA at the PM House on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by inspector general police of all provinces, home secretaries and representatives of intelligence agencies. The meeting discussed the anti-terrorism national action plan and representatives of the provinces were provided the document pertaining to it. During the meeting, Nisar said NACTA has been made fully operational and directed all concerned departments for coordinated and prompt intelligence sharing with NACTA to foil terrorist and subversive activities across the country.
The minister also assured to provide all resources for hurdle-free working of the authority. Interior Minister Nisar directed that the data of members of banned organisations should be collected. Last week, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed that NACTA be made functional with immediate effect, following which a meeting was summoned today. The anti-terror body has largely remained dormant resulting in an absence of coordination among various intelligence and law-enforcement agencies which is critical to monitoring activities of extremist groups operating in different parts of the country.
Nisar said that the war on terror was being fought for the preservation of state and it could not be won without complete ownership, shared responsibility and coordination between federal and provincial governments and the armed forces. The National Action Plan was discussed at length in the meeting with recommendations on every point from participants, representing all four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. The respective provincial governments gave their feedback on the proposed actions being taken under the NAP and potential irritants in execution of various functions in coordination with Federal Government.
A comprehensive report on recommendations will be shared with the Prime Minister’s Office. The minister asked the provincial governments to establish dedicated helplines for expeditious response to all kinds of threat. He assured complete support and consistent unified coordination between the federal and provincial governments. He said that the point of coordinating all these steps in the country would be NACTA, which had been revitalized to maintain and develop a central database of actionable intelligence and information of value, and its timely relay to concerned quarters. Elaborating further, he said the military was making huge sacrifices for the country and the civilian side must also play its due role.
