LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Wednesday issued notices to the federal government and Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on an application challenging the recent increase in prices of petroleum products.

The chief justice directed the respondents to file replies until September 27.

The application, filed by Muhammad Azhar Siddique, the petitioner's counsel, read that the increase was a fraud with the citizens as prices in international market had decreased while OGRA had raised them without any justification. The petitioner said the increase would push inflation to new heights.

End.
