ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday said the protest demonstration would continue until the resignation of Premier Nawaz Sharif.
Imran Khan said Nawaz was trying to have the privilege of "political martyrdom" but "we will not provide this chance to him".
The skipper warned the government that any action or crackdown by police on the peaceful protesters would "prove last nail in the coffin of government", adding, "The PTI is fighting and struggling against the status-quo and the tiny ruling class of oppressors who had occupied the wealth and resources of the nation."
Speaking to his charged workers in front of the Parliament House, Kaptaan said, "I stand by all my statements related to the former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Chaudhry," adding, "I spent one month in jail" for the restoration of judiciary.
Addressing Iftikhar Chaudhry, he said, "You deceived the entire nation while being part of polls rigging and match fixing during last general elections of 2013…. so the nation and God will not spare you."
Imran said Nawaz always bought the people for his businesses and profits. He said after the revelations of former Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) additional secretary Afzal Khan the PML-N has no right to rule the country.
Under Nawaz there was no hope of justice, and he was well aware of the fact that a free and fair investigation of poll rigging and match fixing would keep him away from the premiership as he managed the rigging, Imran added.
"We have entered into a phase of nerve test and you need to be optimist and never lose your heart as man is not made for defeat. The corrupt tiny elite devised a system to exploit the weaker segments of the society and the PTI will struggle against the occupation of this ruling class besides we will make Pakistan free of their occupation," the skipper added.
PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the government was planning to attack the peaceful protesters, adding that any such action would have dire consequences for the government.
Meanwhile, PTI leader and chief negotiator Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday reiterated the party's demand that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should resign forthwith and assemblies be dissolved.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq expressed fears of spoilers trying to sabotage the already stalled government-PTI negotiations to create anarchy in the country. The PTI leadership said the demand that the prime minister should resign for 30 days and retake office in case the Supreme Court Commission terms 2013 elections as fair, prompting a subtle reply from the JI chief who said that the time period for the PM to resign or proceed on leave could be reduced or negotiated if the two sides re-start the stalled talks.
"Mid-term elections and resignation of PM Nawaz Sharif is need of then hour for stable democratic system in the country. We are hopeful that success would be for the democratic system," Qureshi told media alongside Sirajul Haq and leaders of both the sides, as they came out of a meeting held at PTI Secretary General Jahangir Khan Tareen's House.
"Some people want bloodshed in the country and desire anarchy. All nations ... especially Pakistan's friend like China are also worried about worsening political situation in the country and want peaceful solution to the crisis," Sirajul Haq told media.
The JI chief said all political forces should think in the best national interest of the country in order to solve the present political crisis through dialogue process. He said it is their collective responsibility to pull the country out of a political deadlock in this critical time by facilitating the dialogue process between the government and protesters.
Siraj said that dialogue process would lead to a win-win situation for the nation and parliament. "The government and protesters should come to a solution otherwise a third party will get the benefit," he warned.
"Through sit-ins they (PTI and PAT) have registered their protests and now they should move forward towards resolution of problems through dialogue," Sirajul Haq added. Meanwhile, Qureshi said there was no hidden power who wishes to threaten the country.
