KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder leader Altaf Hussain on Wednesday made his first contact with MQM International Secretariat in London after his detention by the London Metropolitan Police through telephone and asked the party workers not to take law into their hands,

He talked with Rabita Committee (RC) members. MQM senior leader Haider Abbas Rizvi at Numaish Chowrangi Karachi reading out Altaf's talks with RC members in London. He announced this before the party workers who were staging a sit-in since Tuesday evening after the reports of arrest of Altaf Hussain by Metropolitan Police London. Talking to RC members Hussain informed about his health and inquired about welfare of party workers, Haider Abbas informed the MQM gathering.

According to Haider, Altaf Hussain was hospitalised and undergoing various tests. Haider said Altaf in his talks said it was not the first time he was facing such hardship and these were not new for him. He said Altaf said faced such situation in the past and even today his morale was not down. Altaf said workers should face the situation with courage and should not take law into their hands. Audience was informed Altaf also talked to his daughter Afza Altaf on telephone.

Meanwhile, MQM has said it would continue the sit-in till it gets 'good news' about its leader Altaf Hussain. "This is the first good news. We would stay here till we get much awaited good news about Altaf Hussain," said Haider. He appreciated the discipline shown by the workers and supporters of MQM during last two days. Whole world was expecting something would happen. We were instigated. We appreciate discipline showed by workers of MQM. But this is not the end of our patience. We are sitting here and would continue to sit here, said Haider.

Not only MQM, but whole Pakistan is praying for Altaf Hussain and we are well aware if we would loose our patience, Altaf Husain would be held responsible, Haider said. He thanked all political parties and individuals who supported MQM in the its difficult time. During the speech the MQM party workers continued chanting slogans in favour of Altaf and were determined to continue sit-in.

"Jeena Hoga, Marna Hoga, Dhrana hoga Dharna Hoga" they shouted. Meanwhile an emergent meeting of MQM Rabita Committee of Karachi and London chapter has been convened. It is expected the meeting would review developments including the status of sit-in.
