PESHAWAR: Federal Interior Minister and President Pakistan People’s Party, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said that the federal government is taking all-out efforts to curb the price-hike and adopt concrete measures for providing relief to the common man in the coming budget.

He said that the government would allocate 4015 billion rupees for the social sector in the budget for the year 2006-07 which would help mitigate the sufferings of people.

He expressed these views while addressing a public meeting at Peshawar and delegation of PPP women Wing at People’s House. On this occasion ANP, PPP Parliamentarian and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, Haji Abid,Abdul Wahid, Mian Abdullah and Nazeem along with families and scores of supporters announced joining PPP.

They reposed confidence in the leadership of Aftab Sherpao and held out assurance to him of allout support. He said that raise in the salaries of government employees would be made so as to provide relief to them.

He said that the national economy had gained stability due to the effective government policies and now the foreign exchange reserves had reached worth $ 12 billion.

He further said that financial stability had increased the prestige of the country in the eyes of the world community and it was the reason of its attraction towards Pakistan.

Aftab Sherpao lashed out at ANP for pleading the case of Pukhtoon at Washington and said that Pukhtoon’s rights could best be won in Pakistan.

He said that instead of presenting Pukhtoon’s case in US we should garner unity and solidarity in them for better future. He said that these elements who were claiming to be champions of Pukhtoons’ rights were not sincere to their cause.

He said that PPP was pursuing the cause of Pukhtoon at our own soil and it would not like other plead their case at any other place.

He said that PPP would continue its struggle for the rights of pukhtoon.

He said that MMA grabbed votes from the people in the name of Islam but masses were fed up with their wrong policies. He said that MMA had committed dishonesty in the distribution of development funds which is contrary to Islamic injunctions.

He said that the wrong policies of MMA had increased uncertainty among the masses and now they were looking towards PPP as their saviour.

He decried the Charter of Democracy saying that the democratic institutions were functioning in a befitting manner. He said that the so-called charter of democracy was an attempt to through dust in the public eyes.

He resented that those elements who were raising fingers at the present system had participated in the election and they were now sitting in the assemblies.

He contended that the democratic institutions had flourished and this government would complete its tenure for the first time.

He said that the women were playing vital role in the country and PPP would adopt practical steps for their empowerment.

He said that for the betterment of ladies PPP women wing would be made more effective so as it could struggle side by side with men.

He asked women party workers to spread the party manifesto in nook and corner of the country as the women would play decisive role in next general election.
