NOWSHERA: Afghan Government Saturday formally rejected to release two Pakistani police officials who were recently arrested.

According to details, two months back, Afghan Government arrested two police officials of Pakistan, said to be involved in serious crimes including illegally trespassing into Afghanistan.

On the other hand, NWFP Police Senior Inspector Waqar Khan has said that both the police officials are innocent and these are all baseless rumours.

He also met high officials of Afghan Interior Ministry in Kabul in this respect, however Afghan government has rejected to release the Pakistani police officials.

They were of the view that this is a provincial matter and Jalalabad government must be contacted.

Sources reveal that Governor Jalalabad has refused to meet with Pakistani police officials who wanted to talk to him on the issue.

Further it has been told that both the police officials Zameen and Gulistan have been handed over to District Jail Jalalabad.

Meanwhile Pakistani Consulate has appointed defence lawyer for the said officials.

End.
