Woke Bingo

Woke bingo may not be one of the most common terms you hear in the casino space, but it is indeed a thing. Bingo is not what you might think of first when you imagine something up to date, trendy or new. But if you have been a fan of bingo for a long time, you will find out that change is actually the whole point of bingo for many folks; it is quite comforting and traditional, and it has remained unchanged for many decades.
Woke bingo may be more relatable now than it would have been many years ago because the term ‘woke’ is trendy at the moment. Hence, several generations of a particular family may have played the same kind of bingo over and over, and won several times, but never heard of woke bingo.
The introduction of online bingo will have most likely caused some kind of a stir within the circle of people who play bingo, but in the end, this worked out just perfectly. Although bingo halls, village halls, theaters, holiday camps, pubs, and lots of other places may have physical bingo games in various corners throughout the year, the birth of online casino games did not stop that - play on Barbados Bingo.
Now that we know that online bingo hasn’t put an end to physical bingo games, we can delve into the origin of Woke bingo and attempt to understand what it is about.
What Is Woke Bingo? The term ‘woke’ is one that is used to describe individuals who have realized that the things they did or believed in the past were not actually acceptable, and they have now ‘woken up’ to the fact that change has to be made. While in some cases, the new realization may be far from the truth, in most cases, what they had been doing would have been offensive, but they never realized it.
However, when they are eventually told or when they get to understand the fact that what they were doing was causing some discomfort or offense, they becoming ‘woke’ and avoid doing it altogether.
You may now wonder how this relates to bingo. Well, it’s the calls. The traditional bingo calls that people have been used to for decades are currently considered – by some people – to be offensive. Bingo calls such as ‘eighty-eight’ and ‘two fat ladies will now be replaced with more considerate and tame calls. Here, Eighty-eight will now be known as ‘Wills and Kate.’
