Rape victim`s parents plead for justice

ISLAMABAD: The parents of the rape victim, a 15 years old Kashmiri girl of the quake-affected areas have pleaded with the government of Pakistan, Supreme Court of Pakistan and human rights organizations to provide them justice and protection from the perpetrators.

The parents of the rape victim, Fauzia Bibi, addressing a press conference at the Rawalpindi-Islamabad press club camp office on Thursday said that the perpetrators were influential people and they were hurling threats of life.

Muhammad Ashraf, told the press conference that Fauzia Bibi on her way back from market in July 2006 was abducted by a woman namely Shazia on the pretext of conveying her to her home where the spouse of Shazia, Jehangir and Shakeel rapped Fauzia.

"They sold Fauzia to Sajjad where he assaulted her for 15 days. The accused Sajjad then sold her to Zameer and Jehangir who took her to Karachi and then to Lahore", he said wiping his tears.

Meanwhile, Sajjad was arrested and his brother used to torture his daughter and forced her to give statement in the favour of Sajjad. ASI of police station RA Bazaar, Siddique also pressured Fauzia to give testimony in favor of Sajjad.

Ashraf said that Fauzia was presented before the court of Chaudhry Taufeeq on October 4, where his lawyer Zahid Anwar told that she would be sent to her home after statement is recorded. He (Zahid Anwar) took her to Bakra market where Siddique, Omar Khattak and Zahid Anwar sexually harassed her for a month. Zahid Anwar again sold her to Jehangir and Zameer who used to give her drugs and tranquilizer.

After about half year of her abduction, Zahid Anwar telephoned to Jehangir to get Fauzia talk her parents. Fauzia told her mother to arrest Zameer. The police recovered Fauzia from the Jehangir house on January 10, from Sialkot and sent her to Darul Aman.

The incharge of Darul Aman made her meeting with the parents and pressed for marriage with Jehangir. Muhammad Ashraf said that the accused were hurling threats of life.

They appealed to the Pakistan government, Supreme Court and human rights organizations to provide them justice and hand down severe punishment to the accused who are still at large.
