ISLAMABAD: Chairing an important meeting on security, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday lauded the role played by the armed forces of Pakistan in eradicating terrorism and said that the IDPs have sacrificed their today to ensure lasting peace in the country and this would be long remembered by the people of Pakistan.

The premier also exchanged notes with his close aides on the military operation against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in tribal areas and viewed on external and internal security situation. The high-level meeting was attended by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and senior officials of law enforcement agencies. The Meeting discussed proposals to keep the PTI's rally out of the capital's Red Zone. An ordinance to bar everyone from protesting inside the Red Zone has been prepared by the Interior Ministry, media reported on Tuesday. According to the sources, the document of the ordinance has been forwarded by the Interior Ministry to the Ministry of Law. Under this ordinance, not more than five people will be allowed to gather at any place within the High Security Zone. Protests of any kind will also not be allowed.

The premier was briefed on the ongoing military operation against the TTP in the tribal belts and was informed of the precision aerial strikes for exterminating the miscreants. Matters related to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan came under discussion during the meeting. Sharing his views during the meeting, the prime minister said that the government wishes that the IDPs return to their homes as soon as possible and would allocate all necessary resources to provide them improved health and education facilities while focusing on infrastructure development in the affected area. He said despite financial constraints the federal government has so far provided financial assistance worth Rs 5.13 billion to provide subsistence and relief to the IDPs. In addition, he said the government has also released wheat stocks worth Rs. 2.7 billion for the affected families.

The Prime Minister also discussed the strategy to handle the long march announced by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the capital on 30,Nov,2014.
