Mai asks Bush to use powers for stopping injustices with Pakistanis

NEW YORK: Mukhtaran Mai has appealed US President George W Bush to use his good office for stopping injustices in his country with Pakistanis living there. Talking to “Online” on telephone before her departure to Pakistan, the rape victim of Mir Walla said that Pakistan has been criticized for human rights violation but Pakistani arrested in the recent raids defaming US image as human rights champion in the world. She said that Pakistanis arrested by the US authorities in the United States are in deteriorating condition in jails. Mukhtaran Mai said that the President Bush should use his powers for relaxing the laws regarding women prisoners. She termed her meetings with State Department officials as positive.
