Karachi: The enhanced development activities and investment in Sindh is a manifestation of the smooth functioning of the coalition partners and strong macroeconomic fundamentals achieved by the government, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said.

The Prime Minister was chairing a high level meeting here soon after his arrival in Karachi. The meeting was attended by Governor Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, Chief Minister Sindh, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Federal Information Minister, Senator Muhammad Ali Durani.

The Prime Minister said that record allocation for development projects made by the government have brought improvement in the quality of life of the people and the government will continue to enhance the development allocations.

The Prime Minister discussed implementation of various development projects including Lyari Expressway, Northern bypass, RBOD, Nara Canal and Motorway projects with Governor and Chief Minister Sindh.

The Prime Minister reiterated that Pakistan Muslim League and its coalition partners will contest the next elections from the same platform and they will win on the basis of their performance in office.

The Prime Minister said consistency and continuity of policies and governance system is essential for maintaining the momentum of development and the government will continue to pursue the same policies to ensure sustainable development.

Chief Minister Sindh, Arbab Ghulam Rahim informed the Prime Minister that law and order situation has improved in Sindh due to the focused and concerted efforts of the Sindh government.

Governor Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan updated the Prime Minister on the performance of various federal agencies.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani briefed the meeting on issue related to media. He said the government believes in the freedom of media to provide diverse sources of information to the people.

He said the proliferation of media in Pakistan and opening of new channels have created jobs and new opportunities. The news analysis are contributing to maturity of media and strengthening of democracy, the Minister added.

Earlier the Prime Minister arrived on a two day visit of Karachi. During his stay in Karachi he will review KESC and launch new projects at Karachi Port Trust and Port Qasim.
