ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)'s MNA Siraj Muhammad Khan has submitted a written request to Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, asking him not to accept his resignation.

Siraj Muhammad Khan, who was elected from NA-6 Nowshera, met Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Islamabad and submitted his written plea, according to parliamentary sources. The speaker has accepted Siraj Khan's request not to accept his resignation.

Siraj is the forth member to defy the party line to resign from NA despite submitting his resignation. Nasir Khattak, Gulzar Khan and Musarrat Zaib are already attending the assembly session after developing differences with the party over the resignations.

The resignations of PTI are still in limbo as the party legislators have refused to meet the speaker individually which, he believes, is a constitutional requirement to determine whether resignation was tendered voluntarily or under pressure.

Sources in parliament pointed out that Siraj's request is a clear indication that Speaker Sadiq must check the authenticity of resignation. Siraj's request strengthened the position of the speaker and he will stick to his stance that the verification should be carried out as per the rules.

End.
