Profile:
One of his country's most famous players, Dejan Stankovic first made his name at his home-town club Red Star Belgrade.
When he came into the side, Red Star were banned from European competition but when the suspension was lifted in 1996/97, Stankovic's mesmeric displays on the wing attracted the interest of Europe's big guns.
He eventually joined Lazio in Serie A for £7.5million in the summer of 1998.
After five-and-a-half successful seasons in Rome, Stankovic moved to Inter, where his former Lazio team-mate Roberto Mancini had recently been named coach.
Despite being an out-and-out winger when he first burst onto the scene with Red Star, he has developed into a versatile midfielder capable of operating anywhere across the middle of the park and he has even been used as a holding midfielder at Inter.
Stankovic is one of his country's most experienced players, with close to 50 caps. Despite becoming a more defensive player as the years pass, he still chips in with goals, and scored twice in a 5-0 win over San Marino in qualification.
