ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) candidate’s victory’s notification in Shangla has been stopped by the Election Commission because of very low women turn out at the polling stations.

In PK-23 Shangla, the population of eligible female voters is 86,639, however, only 3500 women cast their votes. On the contrary the male eligible voter population is 114,000 and 66,000 men cast their cotes. The total voter turn out was 34%.

Headed by the Chief Election Commissioner, Sardar Muhammad Raza, a 5 member commission heard the case regarding the nullification of the results of PK-23 Shangla as the women voter turn out was less than 10%. None of the candidates who contested polls in the constituency were present at the hearing.
