ISLAMABAD: Three Pakistan Army personnel were martyred and one more was injured due to heavy cross-border shelling by Indian forces on Monday evening, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The development came hours after Pakistan allowed convicted Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav’s mother and wife to meet him in Islamabad, in what the Foreign Ministry said was a ‘humanitarian gesture’.

The shelling occurred at the Rukh Cakri sector in Rawlakot and received a strong response from Pakistani forces.

India had initiated the ‘unprovoked ceasefire violation’ that led to an exchange of fire between the two countries’ border forces, the ISPR said.

India has breached the ceasefire agreement on more than 1,300 occasions since the start of this year and at least 52 civilians have lost their lives, while 175 have been injured.

Meanwhile, Mishal Malik, wife of chief of detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Yasin Malik, has demanded India to allow her meet her husband in Indian-held Kashmir.

Claiming that Yasin Malik has not been allowed to meet his family for last three years, Mishal said Pakistan arranged a meeting of convicted Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav with his wife and mother but India was not allowing Yasin Malik to meet his wife and daughter.
