PESHAWAR: At least eleven people have been killed and several injured in a suicide attack at CIA investigation cell of CIA police station in cantonment area of Peshawar.
Speaking to the media at the scene of the blast, NWFP Information Minister Iftikhar Hussain confirmed the attack as a suicide car bomb blast.
‘A suicide bomber was in the car that was blown up near two checkposts, one belonged to the army and another to the CIA,’ Iftikhar Hussain said.
He said the number of people killed in the blast was 11.
‘I can tell you that 11 people have lost their lives in the attack. Three of them were policemen,’ he added.
According to our sources, the explosion took place at approximately 1:00 pm in the vicinity of a mosque, an army checkpost and a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) building.
The injured had been shifted to the Lady Reading hospital and several other hospitals across the city where an emergency has been declared.
