PESHAWAR: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq has blamed the US policies for promoting terrorism in the region. Talking to the media after inquiring after the health of those injured in the attack on the Agriculture Training Institute on Saturday, the JI chief said that Pakistan and Afghanistan should join hands to wipe out the menace.

He said that Washington must be given a clear message that the time to ‘do more’ was over. He said the US policies were serving India’s interest. “India is carrying out terrorist activities in Pakistan by making Afghanistan a facilitator,” he said, adding that Pakistan had not declared war against any country.

Siraj said the US efforts to increase India’s influence in Afghanistan and establish India’s supremacy in the region had ruined the peace in South East Asia. He stressed upon Pakistan and Afghanistan to prepare a joint line of action to stop the killing of innocent people.

The JI chief said the US must be made to believe that as long as the US and NATO troops were present in Afghanistan peace could not be established in the region.

He said that India was sending her saboteurs in Pakistan through Afghanistan in order to increase tensions between the two states and shatter bilateral trust. He said the US efforts to promote India as regional policeman and pressurise Pakistan were intolerable.

He said there was a similarity in the terrorist attacks on APS Peshawar and the Agricultural Training institute and added that the security institutions should keep a strict watch at the Afghan border. He said that the terrorists attacking Pakistan had their hideouts in Afghanistan and as long as these hideouts were not wiped out, Pakistan could not be secured from terrorist attacks.
