KARACHI: The family of Shahzeb Khan on Monday decided to pardon the culprits responsible for their only son's death, our sources reported.

The victim's father, DSP Aurangzeb Khan and his mother Ambreen Aurangzeb have also requested for the release of the four perpetrators involved.

In the request filed with Sindh High Court, the family states that they have decided to pardon the culprits "in the name of Allah", and therefore the court is obligated to do likewise.

It further states that the parents of both the parties have come to an understanding outside of court.

Khan's parents moreover insist that they were under no pressure when filing the request, and have also decided not to accept any blood money from the culprits families.

The court's writ branch has asked Khan's family to present another copy of the request in court.

The final decision regarding the request will be made by the court.

Shahzeb Khan, 20, was gunned down on the night between December 24 and December 25, 2012 by Shahrukh Jatoi, who was accompanied by his friends, Siraj and Sajjad Talpur.

The young men had argued after the Talpur's manservant, Ghulam Murtaza Lashari, had teased Khan's sister.

An FIR was filed against the culprits under Section 302 at Darkhshan Police Station.

During the trial, 23 witnesses and two eye-witnesses had recorded their statements, after which an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi had sentenced the main accused, Shahrukh Jatoi, to death along with Siraj Talpur, while life-long jail terms had been given to Sajjad Talpur and Ghulam Murtaza Lashari on June 7.

End.
