09 January, 2007
JEDDAH: MMA central leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said MMA is united and all the component parties of religious grouping will contest general election from MMA platform. He said this in his exclusive interview with Online correspondent here in Asif Hall. He had reached Jeddah from Medina Munarwa in connection with performance of Hajj rituals. MMA leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmad and Maulana Sardar Azam were also present on the occasion. He cautioned that the country is facing severe internal and external problems. Anarchy is on rise and the law and order situation is deteriorating. Only MMA can steer the country from the prevailing situation. He went on to say that country was being dragged to westernization. The identity of the country is at stake. Only western minded small group is satisfied over this culture but it can not affect the religious attachment of 140 million people. Replying to a question, he said MMA has always pursued one agenda that the political reawakening is generated among the people and the country is freed from the influence of global imperialism. Earlier addressing a reception in his honour at Asif Hall Jeddah hosted by Kamran Azam office bearer of Jammu and Kashmir community, he said federal government passed women protection bill and it was opposed by all the Ulema across the country. Despite this opposition the bill was implemented. On the other hand Supreme court suspended the Hasba Bill passed by NWFP assembly despite the fact that Ulema from all over the country supported this bill. Supreme court has overstepped it powers by suspending the Hasba Bill, he noted. About Kashmir issue, he said Pakistan is exploring solution to Kashmir issue. The national stance on this issue is only one that right of self determination be given to people of Kashmir in line with UN resolutions. Any other option should also be explored provided it is acceptable to Kashmiris, he added. The bilateral talks held so far between Pakistan and India reveal that the ongoing CBMs are not bilateral and they are unilateral which are being pursued by Pakistan only, he remarked.
