Re-election of President would ensure continuity and consistency of leadership: PM

ISLAMABAD: President Pervaiz Musharaf will be the unanimous candidate for re-election of the President of PML and coalition partners and this will ensure Pakistan’s continued progress on the road to prosperity and democracy, said the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
The Prime Minister was talking to Ch. Shujaat Hussain,President PML who called on him at the PM’s House .
The Prime Minister said that the re-election of the President would ensure continuity and consistency of leadership and policies essential for future progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister said that the government has decided to import one million tonnes of wheat so that availability of wheat flour can be ensured and the prices of Atta can be maintained at affordable price.
He said directives have been issued to all border monitoring and controlling agencies to ensure that the ban on export of wheat by sea and land route is strictly enforced.
Ch Shujaat Hussain President of PML said that all decisions are taken unanimously in consultation with all coalition partners and this trend will be followed in the future as well.
He said that PML and coalition partners will contest the next general election on the basis of performance.
During the meeting all other participants expressed their full confidence in the success of the ruling coalition in the next general election as the ruling coalition has clearly demonstrated working for the interest of the country as well as peace, progress and prosperity. They said that these are the values which will take Pakistan into 21st century with pride and better economic strength.
The meeting also reviewed various measures taken by the government to improve supplies of essential commodities during the Holy Month of Ramadan and expressed satisfaction over the government’s decision to import wheat to stabilize the prices.
The Prime Minister said that Utility Stores Corporation has been directed to ensure availability of Atta at reduced prices through its 3600 outlets and also immediately deploy sufficient number of mobile Atta shops in big cities to regress the reported shortage in certain areas.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Tariq Azeem, Advisor to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Tariq Javed and Chief Whip of National Assembly Sardar Nasrullah Dareshk.
