QUETTA: PPP Senator Raza Rabbani has alleged that efforts are underway to roll back 18th constitutional amendment, a move which could threaten the federation.

Addressing a seminar here on Tuesday, he said there was a particular mindset in Islamabad which wasn't ready to transfer powers to the provinces, adding that such an attitude could pose threats to the federation.

Raza Rabbani said the civil and military bureaucracy always opposed provincial autonomy under the pretext that it would dismember Pakistan.

But, he added, this couldn't improve any segment of our society, including health and education.

He said that in accordance with the Article 154 of the constitution, meeting of Council for Common Interests should be held within 90day, but despite passage of five months since the present government took over, no meeting of CCI has been convened which is violation of the constitution.

Earlier speaking to media PPP senior leader Raza Rabbani has said that until the issue of missing persons remains unsettled the situation in the restive province of Balochistan is unlikely to improve.

He said that Balochistan is facing certain situation and missing persons, mutilated bodies and lawlessness contribute to the worsening situation in the province. Until these issues are not settled the situation won't improve.

He said that Aghaz-e-Haqooqi package, 18th amendment and government efforts wont bear fruit until the settlement of these issues.

End.
