Ramadan package to ensure supply of essential commodities at affordable prices to public, says PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that the Ramzan Package announced by the government will ensure the supply of essential commodities at affordable prices to the public at large. The Prime Minister was talking to Chief Minister Sindh, Arbab Ghulam Rahim who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House on Thursday. Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture, Sikandar Khan Bosan and Federal Minister for Health Mr. Naseer Khan were also present. The Prime Minister said after achieving economic stability, the government is now focusing on transferring the benefits of growth to the grass roots level and on bringing improvement in the quality and standard of life of common man. He said it was for this purpose the government allocated record high amount for development projects in the budget 2006-07. A substantial amount was also allocated in the budget to subsidise the essential commodities to stabilize their prices, the Prime Minister said. The Chief Minister Sindh updated the Prime Minister on the latest situation, which emerged in parts of Sindh as a result of the rains. Law and order situation, development schemes of the province and the organizational matters of PML Sindh also came under discussion. Chief Minister Sindh informed the Prime Minister that the provincial government is making every effort to solve the problems of the rain affected areas and the rainwater has been drained from Hyderabad. The Prime Minister asked Chief Minister Sindh to provide him continuous update on the rehabilitation work in the rain-affected areas.
