President Mamnoon lauds govt's measures for progress

LAHORE: President Mamnoon Hussain has appreciated the development and welfare measures taken by the government which have also been acknowledged on international level.

He was talking to Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif who called on him on Sunday. They apprised him of development projects in the province.

The chief minister said the primary objective of the PML-N government is to uplift the socio-economic lot of the people, for which all the promises and the party manifesto will be materialised. He said rehabilitation process of the Nandipur Power Project near Gujranwala is speedily in progress with the cooperation of China, and the power generation is expected to begin soon.

The Quaid-i-Azam Solar Power Project at nearly 1,000 acres of land in Cholistan near Bahawalpur is also expected to start production this year. Shahbaz Sharif said that during his recent visit to China along with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, an agreement has been finalised for establishing two coal-run power projects in Sahiwal.
