KARACHI: President Mamnoon Hussain has said the present government accords priority to the promotion of quality education as education is the key towards the path of socio-economic progress and prosperity.
The President‚ who is also a Chancellor of the Federal Urdu University of Arts‚ Science and Technology said this while chairing the 25th Senate's meeting of the University in Karachi on Tuesday.
The President while underscoring the key role of the universities in socio- cultural and economic development of the country said that academic institutions‚ especially the universities‚ has greater role to play in nation-building process and transformation of the society. He remarked that it was through the education that the nations have ascended to the heights of development and glory.
President Mamnoon Hussain highlighted the important role of research in modern day world and urged for further focusing on promoting excellence in learning and research so as to prepare the young generation to cope with the growing challenges and contribute towards the nation building in a meaningful way.
He expressed hope that Federal Urdu University of Arts‚ Science and Technology would continue playing its role in the development of science and technology and promotion of Urdu language in the country. He also assured all possible support to the University in its educational pursuits and plans.
Vice Chancellor Federal Urdu University Dr. Zafar Iqbal gave a detailed briefing about academic activities‚ ongoing and future projects and plans and different issues of the University.
