31 December, 2013
ISLAMABAD: Around Rs 1.5 million was spent from national treasure on the portraits of the President Mamnoon Hussain which would be put on the President House's lounge walls.
A private TV channel reported that in the past, Rs 0.9 million was spent on the portraits of the former president Asif Ali Zardari.
Meanwhile, the Press Secretary to the President has strongly contradicted a news item appearing in a section of electronic media today regarding a huge amount spent by the Presidency on official portrait of President Mamnoon Hussain.
She termed the news items as baseless and factually incorrect‚ adding that no such payment has been made by the Presidency.
However, media reports further said Mamnoon Hussain as a president of Pakistan hired a photographer Qamar Pervez from Lahore for the photo shoot.
Family members of the president also have their photo shoot from the same photographer which costs Rs 1.5 lacs. Presidential spokesperson said that the bill of the family members was paid by their own.
However, Information Ministry is of the view that it has nothing to do with the portraits of the president.
End.
