Police 'political weapon' of Sharifs to victimise opponents: Imran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday said the PML-N's 'fascist' government was victimising its political opponents by using police, as he condemned the brutal killing of eight people in Lahore and asked Punjab Chief Minister Shahabaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah to accept responsibility and resign forthwith.
The PTI chairman rejected the investigation of the incident through a judicial commission as, according to him, the findings of any such commission have never been made public so far. "These commissions always curtail the reality," he said.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Imran Khan also demanded the government sack the inspector general of police. He termed the police a 'political weapon' of Sharif brothers. He said that in the last general election, the rulers snatched the mandate of the masses with the help of this 'weapon'.
"Police always break the law on the order of Sharif brothers. They have hired 25 000 policemen against the merit," he alleged. "Are there no barricades in front of palaces in Model Town and Raiwind," Khan asked, referring to residences of Sharif brothers.
Khan said PTI postponed its rally and public gathering in Bahawalpur on the request of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and now this procession is scheduled for June 27 June.
While criticizing the performance of the present government, PTI chairman said they were exposed within one year through mishandling of peace talks with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He said the prime minister has no leadership skills to tackle such issues of national interest.
Khan said he has convened a meeting of his party on Wednesday (today) where they will devise new course of action regarding the prevailing political situation in the country.
End.
