PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakthunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khatak on Tuesday 20,January,2015 announced increase in the compensation package for the families of the students slain in the school carnage to Rs2 million for each martyr and treatment of the injured through government funds.

The announcement was made during the Chehlum ceremony of APS victims held here at CM House attended by KP Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, PTI chief Imran Khan, provincial ministers, lawmakers and parents of the victims. Quran Khwani and special prayers services were held for the martyred children and teachers of the APS attack.

The chief minister said as per the directives of PTI chief Imran Khan, treatment expenses of the injured students including all facilities will be borne by the provincial government and Shaukat Khanum Hospital. He said the injured whose treatment was not possible here would be sent abroad.

Speaking to the parents of the victim students, the chief minister said, "we equally share the grief and sorrow of the affected families and the revenge of the innocent children would be taken by eliminating terrorists and militants besides wiping out terrorism." The future of the children would be made safe at all costs for which measures at national level have been taken, he added.

Khatak said the process of renaming government schools located at important places has been started after the names of APS martyrs. Similarly, the construction of monument in their memory with consultation of parents was being mulled, he said. The chief minister further told parents that foolproof security of the schools is being ensured. He said that the intelligence networks were being strengthened in the province through coordination and provision of proper security gadgets.

Khatak informed that illegal Afghan immigrants are being expelled under the crash plan from the province while arrangements are underway for dignified return of the registered Afghan refugees. Similarly, he said the Frontier Constabulary platoons presently deployed at Islamabad are being repatriated to the province for deployment at FATA-KP borders. He said Peshawar would be made city of flowers again and work on green belts and forestation is underway in Peshawar.
