LAHORE: Pakistani and Indian officials have started talks over water projects in Lahore on Saturday. The talks will be continued till June 04. The delegation was led by the Indian Indus Water Treaty Commissioner, G Aranga Nathan, and some technical experts of the water sector in the annual meeting.

Earlier, an eleven- member delegation of Indian water officials arrived in the city to discuss the controversial water projects and take up routine agenda.

Talking to the reporters at Allama Iqbal International Airport, G Aranga Nathan said the items on the agenda would be discussed in the talks. He said no discussion would be held on the issue of Baglihar Dam as it had already been decided.

Talking to The News, Pakistani Commissioner of PIC Syed Jamaat Ali Shah said the issues of Kishanganga and Ori-II would also be discussed in the talks.

Meanwhile, sources said, besides the routine agenda, the Pakistani side would also put up the controversial issues, particularly Kishanganga and Baglihar hydropower cum water storage project of India on the Chenab River.

End.
