Pakistan, India agree to release prisoners

LAHORE: Pakistan and India have agreed to repatriate prisoners who have completed their sentence.
The agreement was reached at a meeting between the officers of Pakistan andIndian border forces at Wagah on Wednesday. The two sides discussed matters related to the border and agreed to take steps to stop smuggling. The Pakistani side was led by Rangers DG Major General Tahir Javed Khan while the Indian side by BSF chief Subhas Joshi.
They also agreed on joint patrolling to halt smuggling and illegal movement along the border. The meeting was held a day after director general military operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan held face-to-face talks for the first time after 14 years. On Tuesday, DGMOs of Pakistan Army and Indian Army reiterated resolve and commitment to continue efforts for ensuring ceasefire, peace and tranquillity along the Line of Control (LOC).
Both the sides had also agreed to carry forward the positive spirit of DGMOs meeting.
Both DGsMO showed their commitment to maintain the sanctity and ceasefire along the Line of Control and agreed to re-energise the existing mechanisms. Consensus was developed to make 'Hotline Contact' between the two DGsMO more effective and result oriented.
It was also decided that both sides would inform each other if any innocent civilian inadvertently crosses Line of Control, in order to ensure his/her early return. The meeting between Pakistan Army and Indian Army was held at Wagah on the issues related to Line of Control.
