PML, its allies confident to win upcoming general election: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that the PML and its allied parties are confident to win the mandate of the people in the upcoming general elections. He was talking to Federal Minister for political Affairs Engineer Amir Muqaam here at the Prime Minister's House on Sunday evening. The Prime Minister said that party tickets would be awarded purely on the basis of merit and after consultation within the party and with its coalition partners. The Prime Minister mentioned that current international and national environments demand continuity in the system to ensure stability and solidarity of the country. In this context, he added, PML and its allied parties would make all out efforts to create conducive political climate to re-elect the President in uniform from the incumbent Assemblies. The Prime Minister said that PML believes that dialogue and negotiations with other political parties would help to evolve a code of conduct for holding free, fair and transparent elections. The PML and its allied parties, he added, would jointly contest the forthcoming election on the basis of their performance and would not enter into any deal with any political party. The Prime Minister while highlighting the economic progress and prosperity achieved during the last seven years said, that the quantum of developmental projects initiated itself reflects the performance of the present government. He emphasized upon early completion of the ongoing projects so that the people at large could benefit out of these facilities. Engineer Amir Muqaam thanked the Prime Minister for his support towards the developmental activities throughout the country particularly in the NWFP. He said that such an infrastructural expansion was never witnessed before in the history of the country and PML is proud of its performance. He further said that PML and its allied parties are still committed to serve the people and the country under the present leadership.
