05 May, 2014
LAHORE: One of the main opposition parties in Punjab, the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid's (PML-Q) Punjab and Lahore chapters jointly held a protest rally in favour of the Pakistan Army and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) on Sunday.
PML-Q leaders Kamil Ali Agha, Seemal Kamran, Amna Ulfat and others led the rally along with good number of party workers who were holding placards and banners, chanting slogans in favour of the armed forces. A massage from the party's senior central leader and former deputy premier Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was also read out during the rally in which he said that damaging the reputation of the Pakistan Army means harming Pakistan. He said his party's rallies are a warning for those people who are hatching conspiracies against it.
Showing solidarity with the armed forces, Elahi said that these rallies are being taken out in support of the army and also to issue a warning to those enemies of the country who are involved in a malicious campaign against the army. He said that after coming into power of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government a new conspiracy was being hatched every day to damage the reputation of the army.
He said after efforts to prove former army chief Pervez Musharraf a traitor a deplorable and malicious campaign has been launched to get serving chief of the ISI declared a murderer. He said this "anti-state attitude of the ruling party" is intolerable for the nation. Elahi said there is no doubt that the government representatives themselves are behind the malicious and hostile campaign against the Pakistan Army within the country and abroad, who regard the army as the biggest obstruction in their agenda against the country.
He said the nation and the country are faced with grave dangers today on internal and external fronts, which demand that the government stand shoulder to shoulder with the army, but contrary to that "the government has itself also joined adventurism against the army".
End.
