ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and his Lebanese counterpart Fuad Sinoura Sunday agreed that Muslim nation need to ensure correct projection of the true spirit of Islam.

"At the same, it is the responsibility of the international community, especially the western countries, to help resolve issues such as Palestine and Iraq, which were breeding terrorism and extremism," Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz discussed situation in the Middle East with Lebanese Fuad Sinoura on Sunday.

Prime Minister expressed Pakistan's support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon and expressed the hope that the prevailing unrest in the country would come to end early end.

Prime Minister also expressed support for dialogue among all the political forces in Lebanon leading to an early normalization of the situation in the country without any external interference.

The two Prime Ministers also discussed situation in Middle East and agreed that efforts were required by the Muslim countries to facilitate an early end to violence in Middle East, especially Palestine and Iraq. In this context they occurred on the need for unity within the Muslim Ummah.

The two leaders also called upon moderate forces in the world to play a more active role towards meeting the challenges posed by extremism and fanaticism.

It was imperative, they agreed to promote interfaith harmony and dialogue between people belonging to various faiths which had become essential since the gulf between Islam and the West was widening.

They agreed the resolution of issues would lead to greater regional stability and harmony between the Muslim and non-Muslim world.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz also discussed the excellent state of relations between Pakistan and Lebanon and reiterated the resolve for working for further strengthening the bilateral relations in all fields.
