PM urged PPP and MQM to remove mutual misgivings for peace in Karachi

KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday 30,January,2015 urged Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to remove their mutual misgivings for peace in Karachi.
"It is therefore important that besides two major political parties any other party having any stake in the metropolis join hands to help address the situation,” the Prime Minister said while chairing a high-level meeting on law and order situation of the city here at the Governor House. The Prime Minister stressed that law and order situation in Karachi had its impact on the entire country. In this context, he said sincerity of purpose was needed to achieve results desired for peace and tranquility. He said national challenges could be overcome with political unity.
"I want to serve this nation and my services for all the provinces are always available,” he assured the participants of the meeting. The Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to thoroughly investigate the killing of three workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and bring culprits to justice. He said it was the government’s responsibility to ensure justice in the society. The Prime Minister, who earlier met the families of the slain workers namely Sohail Ahmed, Faraz Alam and Rehan at the Governor House, expressed deep grief over their death.
"These unfortunate incidents would be investigated with absolute impartiality so as to identify those who are actually responsible and behind these killings,” he said. Prime Minister Sharif said his visit to Karachi was aimed at discussing ways and means to restore peace of the city. He said National Action Plan (NAP), meant to root out terrorism and extremism from the country, had the support of all major political parties. He mentioned that NAP was the outcome of joint efforts of political parties and the document was duly signed by their representatives.
Sharif said the operation was showing good results. Sindh’s Governor Ishrat ul Ibad, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Federal minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar, members of provincial cabinet attended the meeting. The Coordination Committee Members of MQM including Babar Ghauri, Qamar Mansoor besides other senior members of MQM and PPP, Director General Sindh Rangers Maj Gen. Bilal Akbar and other senior government officers were also present. Later, the prime minister offered Friday prayers here at the Governor House.
Prime Minister Nawaz met with the families of three deceased workers of MQM here at the Governor House. He expressed deep sorrow and inquired about the causes leading to deaths of Sohail, Faraz Alam and Rehan. A statement from the PM House said the Prime Minister heard with concern the sad story of the families of the deceased. He embraced the kids and promised them full justice.
