SANA`A: A warm and enthusiastic welcome was accorded to Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz when he arrived in Sana`a on Sunday on a official visit to Yemen on first leg of his two nation visit.

Yemeni Prime Minister, Abdul Kadar Bajammal and his cabinet members received Mr Shaukat Aziz at the airport. Two children attired in traditional dress presented bouquet to the Prime Minister.

A guard of honour was presented to the Prime Minister and national anthems of the two countries were played.

The Prime Minister will hold one-on-one meeting with his Yemeni counterpart later today on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The Yemeni Prime Minister will host a banquet in honour of Mr Shaukat Aziz.

The Prime Minister will also hold a meeting with Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh with particular emphasis on strengthening trade, economic, political and defence ties. Both the leaders will discuss bilateral, regional and international issues of common interest including Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Afghanistan and Pak-India peace process.

Three agreements are likely to be signed during the Prime Minister`s visit to Yemen to enhance cooperation in various fields. The Prime Minister will also hold meetings with business leaders in Sanna besides meeting with the prominent members of the Pakistani community living in Yemen.

During his visit to Saudi Arabia, the prime minister will hold talks with King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz on bilateral, regional and international issues besides matters of common interest.

They will also discuss matters relating to further strengthening existing bilateral ties with particular focus on enhancing economic and trade ties between the two countries.

The prime minister will also lay foundation stone of new Pakistani consulate building in Jeddah.

Earlier, talking to reporters prior to his visit at Islamabad airport Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that his visit to Yemen and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is important for the economy of the country.

The Prime Minister, said that he would discuss regional and international issues and cooperation in various fields with the leadership of these countries. He said problems faced by the Organization Islamic Conference (OIC) with the leaders of Yemen and Saudi Arabia would also come under discussion.

The prime minister said they would discus the problems faced by Ummah. ?The Ummah is facing numerous challenges and we should devise joint and comprehensive policy to cope with them,? he added.

Shaukat Aziz on the first leg of his tour would visit Yemen where he would meet President Ali Abdullah Saleh, Prime Minister Bajamal and other leaders and the Pakistani community. The two countries are expected to sign three agreements. It is to be mentioned that trade between Pakistan and Yemen is 60 million dollars annually.

Shaukat Aziz during his visit to Saudi Arabia would meet Prime Minister Shah Abdullah and other leaders. The two sides would discuss regional and international issues and cooperation in different fields. The Prime Minister would lay down foundation stone of new Pakistani consulate in Jeddah. The Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have trade of two and a half billion dollars trade annually.
