LAHORE: The Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Dr. Naseem Ashraf has said that PCB would facilitate Shoaib Akhtar for playing for Indian Premier League (IPL).

He said that he had twice talked to Lalit Modi Chairman IPL since the decision of PCB Appeal Tribunal was announced today. Ashraf added that he had told Modi that PCB had no intention of restricting Shoaib Akhtar from playing IPL.

Dr. Naseem Ashraf said that he had also communicated to Mr. Sharad Pawar, The President Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), that Shoaib should be given opportunity to play in IPL. He said he was ready to provide the Chairman IPL and the President BCCI with any relevant documentation from PCB Appeal Tribunal to clarify that Shoaib Akhtar can play anywhere else in the world including IPL.

Dr. Ashraf also said that PCB in principle was never out to affect the livelihood of players in any manner. However, he maintained, that disciplinary issues had to be dealt on merit.
