No new tax proposed in current budget except on property and services: Kaira

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that no new tax has been introduced except two taxes in the current budget.
While talking to media outside the Parliament House on Saturday, Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that no new tax has been proposed except two taxes in the current budget. There are two taxes on anvil which are Property Gain Tax and Tax at Services. But these taxes will be levied after consultation of provinces.
Replying to question he said that government did not increase tax on news print rather we have decreased it. "We have supported all sectors and media sector have also been given relief. Now it is up to the employers to give this relief to their employees," he added.
He further said that there were sufficient funds with the ministries and now the challenge was with ministers on how to use these funds.
Replying to question he said that he has two portfolios. One is Kashmir and Northern areas and another information ministry. "I believe a sizeable allocation has been given in budget to both ministries".
He said that his ministry also enjoyed share in PDSP, and said that there was no shortage of resources while all ministries have sufficient amount of funds.
He said that ministry of finance had done a fine job and appreciated the efforts of ministry of finance for taking effective measures and decision in this critical time.
He said that relief has been given to agriculture, health, education media and almost all sectors. He further said that day after tomorrow we will have a meeting with the HEC.
"We have three academies; information radio Pakistan and PTV academy. We all need training and refresher courses," he maintained.
