ISLAMABAD: President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Friday said that Pakistan is an Islamic Republic country and no legislation would be contrary to the Islam.

They expressed these views during their second consecutive meeting since last two days here at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday.

Sources said that both President and PM reviewed the matters of Lal Masjid seriously after the announcement of implementation of Shariah by its Khateeb and made it clear that formulation and implementation of laws is the responsibility of the government rather individual.

They further said that those elements who are trying to take steps on their own by the dent of powers and brining bad name to Islam would be met with force if they tried to take law in their hands.

They further reaffirmed that government is reviewing the matter and showing its patients on the issue of Lal Masjid in order to avoid loss of any human life. But we would not compromise on the writ of the government, they added.

They have also exchanged views on the political environment in the country. The issues of deal also came under discussion, sources added.

Earlier, both Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and President General Pervez Musharraf discussed issues of National Importance.

President General Pervez Musharraf expressed his complete satisfaction over the pace of development in various sectors in the country.

He said as a result of the reforms introduce by the government the economy has been strengthened and adequate resources were available to finance mega and other infrastructure process.

Both leaders emphasized that sustainability and continuity of policies was essential and that the country is well on the path of development.

Development activities in different parts of the country were going on according to schedule and mega development projects will be completed on the time.
