SWAT – The University of Swat on Saturday suspended chief proctor for ordering gender segregation at the varsity, private TV channel reported.

This suspension order of varsity Chief Proctor Hazrat Bilal was given by Swats University’s Vice Chancellor Dr Jahan Bakht. The move comes a day after the proctor issued a notification, barring all male and female students of University of Swat from sitting or walking both on and off the campuses.

“If any student male or female found sitting or walking together in the campus or outside, a penalty ranging from Rs50 to Rs5000 will be imposed and an emergency meeting will be called with their parents,” the notification said.

Taking notice of the issue, the vice chancellor suspended the chief proctor and withdrew the notification. The vice chancellor said that there was no ban on co-education in the University of Swat.
