New anti terrorism policy on the cards: PM Gillani

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Monday said that a new anti terrorism policy was on the cards after taking the nation and the parliament into confidence.

He expressed these views while being given a briefing on issues of National Security during his visit to the ISI headquarters.

PM House Sources reveal that Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani was given a detailed briefing on war against terrorism, extremism, Role of Intelligence Agencies, cooperation with CIA and other intelligence agencies besides ongoing operations against Tribal Areas and FATA.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani reviewed the policies on issues of National Security given by representatives of ISI during the meeting.

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani made it clear that no compromise shall be made on National Security and defence of the country at any cost.

He said that we are also victims of terrorism our chairperson Benazir Bhutto was a target of terrorism, army installations and policemen have been attacked and there is a dire need to review our policy on terrorism as this menace has weakened the foundations of the society.

He said however any new strategy would be devised after taking the people of this country into confidence. However, the Prime Minister emphasised, that force is not the answer to settling issues and everything would be handled through dialogue process taking in view the political aspects.

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on the occasion lauded the gigantic efforts of Pak Army and Intelligence Agencies to curb the menace of terrorism and extremism.
