ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday accused Nawaz Sharif of trying to put pressure on the judiciary through public meetings and rallies.

In a statement on the micro-blogging site Twitter on Sunday, Imran Khan alleged that the main motive of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) public campaign against the superior judiciary was an attempt to compel it to take back its verdict which disqualified Nawaz Sharif from public office. He said that Nawaz Sharif was still traumatised by the decision which was issued in August last year, and had always had a history of influencing the judiciary.

“NS’s (Nawaz Sharif) problem is he has always played with his own umpires and wanted a judge like Justice Qayyum whom he could influence on writing a judgment.”

“Hence SC decision traumatised him and has led him to carry out a campaign attacking the country’s superior judiciary,” he added. Therefore, he said that Nawaz Sharif was holding public meetings to build public pressure, while crying desperate pleas about why he was ousted from power. “Now the motive behind NS’s public mtgs (sic) has become evident with his declaration that the SC will have to take back their decision on his disqualification.”

“He is seeking to build public pressure & in the process has let slip the fake sincerity in his desperate cry: Mujhe kyun nikala.” Nawaz Sharif had held a public rally on Saturday in Haripur district of Hazara, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and strongly criticised his political opponents for the recent joint opposition protest in Lahore.
