KANDAHAR: Terming the Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) unarmed military of the non-Muslims, the Etihad-i-Ulema Afghanistan led by renowned cleric Maulvi Abdullah Zakiri in a decree said they (NGOs) were spies of the infidels (Non-Muslims).

The decree passed by the Ulema has said the education system under the control of America, NGOs, cable television, satellite dish receivers and unrestricted internet were against Islam.

The decree, which has been signed by 55 religious clerics from about 13 provinces of Afghanistan, termed NGOs as the unarmed military of the non-Muslims, and added the verdict had been passed by the religious Ulema of India 131 years ago.

"The NGOs get control over the beliefs and conduct of Muslims by money, frauds and imploration. They are spies of the infidels. The Ulema of India have passed decree against the NGOs 131 years ago, the verdict said.

The decree said resistance against schools having un-Islamic curriculum is Farz (Compulsory).

"We are against the schools which have un-Islamic curriculum and where salaries are paid by American organisations. We term resistance compulsory against them, the decree said.

The decree lauded schools where syllabus is according to Islam, saying such learning is Farz (Obligatory).

The decree said learning medical science is Wajib-i-Kifai (Mandatory).

"The Etihad-i-Ulema Afghanistan is not against schools which are not against Islamic beliefs, where Islamic syllabus is being taught according to the instructions of mujahideen, salaries are not received from American organisations, methods of jihad are being taught for protection of Islam and country and which are under the control of Muslims. Getting such education is compulsory, the decree said.

"Medical science is mandatory, the verdict added.

"It is the duty of mujahideen, as per their capabilities, to cope with American schools, NGOs, cable television, satellite dish receivers etc, and anyone who spreads and supports the aforesaid obscenities is creator of turbulence in the world, and he must be punished, the decree said.

The Etihad-i-Ulema Afghanistan (Union of clerics of Afghanistan) is an organisation of Afghan clerics who are against the US and NATO military intervention in Afghanistan. It has given Fitwas (decrees) on various religious issues at various times.

The Etihad-i-Ulema Afghanistan is led by a renowned religious cleric of Kandahar, Maulvi Abdullah Zakiri who took active part in jihad against former Soviet Union troops. He, however, did not take part in the Taliban regime because he had some differences with their government.

Like some other Afghans, he believes Afghanistan is currently under the occupation of America.

The Etihad-i-Ulema Afghanistan has also given some decrees on this issue.

End.
