LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Hamza Shehbaz on Sunday said a larger bench should be constituted to analyze the cases pertaining to accountability of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman.

Talking to reporters in Lahore, he said that if NAB could prove any corruption case against him, he would leave politics. “If NAB fails to prove anything against me, I will request the LHC chief justice to form a larger bench over the NAB chairman’s interview,” said Hamza.

“Unelected people can be seen in the parliament now. Inflation has become unbearable. The NAB chief should be held accountable. Courts must summon the NAB chief and the journalist who interviewed him,” he said.

Hamza said that baseless allegations were levelled against Shehbaz Sharif by the prime minister. He added that the PM was playing delaying tactics in the case.

“The questionnaire is prepared by a grade 17 officer. However, the NAB Lahore DG had claimed that he himself wrote the questionnaire that was sent to me. The NAB DG had discussed the dates for filing reference against the Sharif family in the interview,” he said.

“It has now been proved that NAB and Niazi have some special relationship,” he said. The PML-N leader said NAB shared the blame of ruining the country’s economy. “The GDP growth rate has dropped to 3 percent,” he said. Hamza Shehbaz said that Pakistan was passing through a critical juncture of history. Slamming the government’s economic policies, he said the country’s economy was in tatters.
