ISLAMABAD: During the course of Musharraf treason case hearing, defence lawyers and the prosecution traded barbs on Friday.

Prosecutor Akram Sheikh told the court after a break that defence lawyers Raja Ijaz and Akhtar Shah had tried to attack him. At this, Ahktar Shah stood up and said if Sheikh spoke against the judiciary and the army, his tongue would be pulled out and legs ripped apart. Ahmed Raza Kasuri said Sheikh is an agent of India.

Taking notice of the situation, Justice Faisal Arab told the lawyers to calm down and don't make fun of the court. He said they should maintain decorum of the court as they all are lawyers and not parties.

Sheikh went on to demand that Akhtar Shah be expelled from the court since he does not have a power of attorney. Justice Arab replied that it is an open court and everyone could come in here. Sheikh stood again and said then Shah should come as a common citizen and not as a lawyer.

Head of Musharraf's defence team Sharifuddin Pirzada told the court that whatever happened was objectionable and it should not have happened. He said they would try that lawyers keep calm while in the court room so that such an incident is not repeated.
