KARACHI: Judicial Magistrate, South, Ghulam Farooq Shaikh, here on Wednesday remanded the former chairman of the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), Moin Aftab Shaikh, in police custody for 10 days in corruption cases of billions of rupees.
The judicial magistrate also directed the police to produce Moin Aftab Shaikh in the court on January 23. The Investigating Officer, Anwer Qureshi, Assistant Director of Crime Circle Branch of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), produced Moin Aftab Shaikh in the court amid tight security and sought 14 daysà remand in order to find out links with the local and foreign suppliers besides tracing out the misuse of money.
The FIA Crime Circle arrested Moin Aftab from his daughter’s residence in the Defence Housing Authority late on Tuesday night where he was hiding after an inquiry was instituted against him on the orders of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. The Supreme Court of Pakistan had also ordered his arrest.
