ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) has decided to sit on treasury benches after a successful meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman here on Saturday.

During the meeting held at the PM house, matters related to overall political situation, inclusion of JUI-F at the centre and law & order were discussed at length.

According to an official handout, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reiterated that the enormity of the challenges faced by the country demanded unity among the people and cooperation among the political parties.

He said that he would be open to any counsel that is beneficial for the people.

However according to reliable sources, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazl congratulated PM on his election and exchanged views on his priorities, which he had presented to the PM. On this the PM assured of a positive response, sources said.

Sources also said that the Maulana sought federal ministries as well as being granted the chairmanship of a National Assembly standing committee. Sources said that PML-N leadership is considering granting chairmanship to JUI of Foreign Affairs committee in the first phase and then ministries would be considered in the second phase.

Meanwhile, JUI-F spokesman Jan Achakzai dismissed these claims and said that the issue of ministries did not even feature during the talks. He said his party is unconditionally supporting the PML-N in order to strengthen democracy.

End.
