ISLAMABAD, July 27 (Online): Information Minister Sheikh Rashid has regretted that linking Pakistani nationals with Sharm Al-Shaikh suicide bombing is an abortive attempt to tarnish Islamabad's image among the comity of nations.

"Apprehension and distress has gripped the Pakistani nation as media has been unleashed baseless propaganda regarding involvement of Pakistani nationals in Sharm Al-Shaikh bombings," the minister expressed these views late Tuesday while talking to BBC.

The persons involved in Sharm Al-Shaikh bombing were born and grew up in Egypt, he remarked.

"Pakistan has been playing the role of frontline state in the war against terrorism and subsequently we have nabbed some 700 leading terrorists by rendering some 400 troops lives to banish terrorism from the soil," he reiterated.

Responding to a query, he noted that Taliban had the support of world countries but the global states had took U-turn soon after the tragic 9/11 incidents and leaving Pakistan all alone to bear brunt of whole situation.

The media should play responsible role to divulge those involved in Sharm Al-Shaikh bombing, he added.

End.

Linking Pakistanis

This is purely an irresponsible act on the part of the administration in Egypt and their media who tried to tarnish the image of Great country Pakistan who is a pillar of Islam though we call Saudi Arabia. Pakistan is playing a better role for muslims around the world with their existence proved and policies of the government. It is deploreable that Egypt did not excercise due care in publishing names of Pakistanis who were there on a visit. It is sad what happened in Egypt to locals and outsiders but their own people are to be blamed for that terrorist act.
