LAHORE: Lahore High Court on Wednesday ordered temporary ban on Facebook, which is holding a competition of caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
A petition filed by Azhar Siddique Advocate in Lahore High Court sought ban on social website of Facebook which has created a wave of outrage in the Muslim world due to blasphemous sketches.
Lahore High Court today allowed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and the lawyers an hour for consultation after which it was decided to close Facebook website.
Secretary of Communication in his statement informed the court that the portion of the website carrying caricatures has been blocked however the entire website could not be blocked due to technical reasons.
The court has directed the concerned authority to informed it about government steps on blasphemous caricatures on May 31st.

we appriciate Pakistani Government and Court for this good decesion. we hope nonmuslims will not take good messages from these actions. we are just showing that we hate those who do such kind of contemptuous acts. if they dont stop, we will cut their necks from their shoulders.

I would urge all to have a listen to the lecture by Shaykh Kamaluddin (available on youtube) on how we (Muslims) should respond to these attempts to engage Muslims in a negative manner...it really is worth the listen!

And only the most naive would believe that there is no way around the ban. So what is worse? That we ban something and still have vast amount of traffic to the site and possibly to whichever particular page is under question now?
A very prominent personality of Pakistan, from the earliest times, made a profound remark: Never make a law you cannot implement.
