Karachi: Three cops, three dacoits killed in encounter

KARACHI: Police encounter in Gulshan-e-Iqbal's Safari Park between police and criminals has left three policemen, including a DSP dead.

The Wednesday midnight encounter which also left 3 criminals killed, began when beater of Gulistan Johar Thana, Waseem approached criminals of adjoining Madad Goth for demanding extortion money, which was more than the agreed amount.

The criminals refused to pay the extortion amount, while also putting a bullet shot in Waseem's leg, after which the police of Thana Gulistan-e-Johar arrived at Safari Park to assist their team mate, transferring the wounded beater to a private clinic.

Heavy firing was exchanged whence police also summoned Rangers and other police contingents, numbering 400; during which DSP Qasim Ghouri and two ASIs targeted while sitting in their mobile were killed instantly.

The criminals further wounded three more police personnel, while 3 criminals were also killed and 3 arrested, which were described by DIG East, Imran Shaukat as external dacoits , including the notorious Parail Chandio , who took refuge here after committing crimes , mostly within interior Sindh.

DIG East strongly rejected any arrests, while CM Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has expressed his grief at martyring of three police officials, announcing Rs 2 million and jobs for their offspring, left behind.

Until last known reports after the conclusion of encounter police had demolished the outer boundary wall of Safari Park, and started their search operation against the dacoits, who had escaped from the crime scene.
